Background
Joshua Nkomo National museum Celebrates the life, work, struggle and philosophies of one of the most outstanding 20th-century leaders. Following the death of Dr. Joshua Nkomo on the 1st July 1999. The Themba Trust and the Nkomo family decided to turn his Matsheumhlophe residence into a museum to honour the work and life of Father Zimbabwe.

The museum is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political and non-sectarian initiative managed by a board of Trustees of the Joshua Nkomo National Foundation. The Museum fulfills the dreams and aspirations of the people of Zimbabwe that her great heroes and heroines should be honored and cherished for all time.
The captured story of Dr. Nkomo should help future generations to develop homegrown strategies to maintain unity as espoused by Father Zimbabwe, Dr. Nkomo. The Museum seeks to document and trace the collective memory and effectively show the life and times of Dr. Nkomo.

A meeting between INSTAK(Institute of African Knowledge) and the Joshua Nkomo Foundation was organized. INSTAK has undertaken the initiative of building the first Pan-African museum.
